Is it just me or is this game a modern Diablo II??

i hope blizz dont try to buy out ggg's developers after they see how this game would probably mark a dent on D3's players base. GGG stay true to yourself!!! I support you guys.

Is it me? or does the Act 1 Area list seem a lot like the Diablo 2 Act 1 area list?

i hope its like d2 with updates..
got and diablo3 betakey and it sucks soo hard. i loved d2, but i cant stand d3 anymore. you see, blizzard never created diablo, they just bought it 6 months before release and renamed the company to blizznorth.. but none of the devs are working there anymore, and d3 is just wow 1.5 now.. its ripped to basics 4 the broadmass.. got hard feelings, because i nrly waiting 1o years now, and then happens something like this. iam not going to buy d3, but i will go and give this one a try. :) |

It's D2.5 but what I don't get is that POE will be free forever? Will there be a cash shop or something like that. Because you cannot just release a game without making profit with it.

This year will be year of hack'n slashes. Path of Exile, Diablo 3, Torchlight 2, Grim dawn, Lineage Eternal etc etc.
I think variety is quite big. Personally i will probably not buy Diablo 3. D2 was awesome game which was pure gold in multi. Diablo 3 as far as I can see lost gloomy, dark setting to riding ponies and shooting rainbows. It looks like clone of WoW which makes me puke. Not because it's colorful but because it tries to pretend it's dark while it's not. Also gameplay looks dumbed down for the console playesr woohooo. Torchlight 2 was made as cartoony and it looks colorful and I'm ok with that. Pity that the game entered "when it's done" state. Path of Exile in the other hand looks ugly, but ugly in good way. It's same as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. World looks dark, unpleasant, monsters are slimy and ugly. I LOVE IT. Passive skill tree looks wonderful, and i really like currency idea in this game. From hack'n slashes it looks like PoE is closest to Diablo 2 but it contains more depth and item customization. I really hope that PoE will be released soon. |

I'd say PoE is "like" Diablo II in gameplay, somewhat. The socketed items is similar to D2 although the linked sockets in PoE are a brilliant twist. I'd say in looks PoE is more alike Sacred 2 or Titans Quest than Diablo II. I've only had my beta key since Sunday but from what I've played so far has shown me that this is no Diablo II clone, this is it's own game and it rocks. Kudos GGG!

This. So far haven't much gameplay experience, but I could tell before I even got into beta that, artistically, PoE is the game many old school Diablo fans wish Diablo 3 would have been. Ie, more dark and gritty, like the first game. |
