This really isn't all that new... it was in Ragnarok Online. Honestly, that type of class specialization would be great in most mmos, but PoE hardly needs it cause the classes already have such amazing build diversity with the passive skill tree.

Instead of having a new class, you have a different build of the same class. People will call it something on the forums and such to differentiate between builds anyway.
These ideas have all been interesting, but I propose something akin to Final Fantasy Tactics and its secret dungeon. Something with tougher monsters, lots of traps, and a chance at a few better items.

It would be its own dungeon too so it would have multiple levels to slog through and the end boss could have some cool drops.

Personally, I welcome this change to Hardcore play.

I played Diablo 2 for years and I enjoyed Hardcore, but it was quite frustrating to lose a guy who was just getting good at like level 40 some due to some bad luck or lag.

This way, if I was really happy with the build I could continue to test it at higher levels in the default league and/or just create a new Hardcore guy and start over at my try to not die.
